Nei Sacramento

 

He started his percussive studies at the Funceb Dance School in 1988 with Bira Monteiro. In 1990 he participated in the Cia Brasileira de Danças Populares, performing in the interior of Bahia, extending to various parts of Brazil. In 1991 he taught at the Escola Criativa do Olodum. In 1992 he created Grupo Percussivo o Kontra and performed concerts entitled: Autópsia, 1996; Sacramento 1997, The Sound of All Tribes 1998, Sentimentos 2004, Primary Music 2006 and Tocandomblé 2009. Also in 1996 he joined the Dance Company Balé Folclórico da Bahia where he toured Brazil, United States, Australia, Austria, Italy, Germany , Spain, Canada and France. In 1999 he participated in the workshop directed by the musician Carl Smith, member of the North American group Stomp, being selected to do the show in São Paulo.

In 2001 he joined the Banda de Carlinhos Brown, touring Japan, Italy and Brazil. With the Italian musician Aldo Brizzi he had a special participation in tours in Europe, and in the Perc pan in Salvador, ending the partnership with a participation in the German film, Tambores e Deuses.

He composed the soundtrack for the Grupo Dance Brasil show directed by Gelon Vieira in 2002.

In 2002, he participated in the workshop given by Steve Colleman, North American saxophonist, and in 2003, Grupo O Kontra was invited to record the CD, Steve Colleman and Five Elements Weaving Simbolics where they went on tour in Europe.

Nei, Idealized the dance show Oração (2005) and composed the soundtrack for Oração e Triângulo (2007).

He joined the Banda de Jauperi in 2006, performing shows in Salvador. Invited by Paulo Moura and Armandinho in 2007 he joined the band Afro Bossa Nova, performing at the Phoenix Jazz Praia do Forte, following up with a tour in 2008, through Brazil in the project named after Tom Jobim. With the singer Mariana Aydar, she worked in 2010 in São Paulo. He participated in the Todos os Santos Orchestra conducted by Maestro Zeca Freitas, performing at the Festival of Instrumental Music at Teatro Vila Velha, and at the pillory in 2011.

 

Since 2018, as a music director, Nei has participated in the project Dancing on Earth in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and much of Europe.

He currently directs musical projects at the Casa de Cultura Somovimento, and the Primary Music projects , The musical group O Kontra , performing shows and teaching classes internationally.
